Within our group we will each be handling different micro elements each so that we can each contribute to the work as well as make sure each is done properly with plenty of thought. Editing will be done by Luke and Dom, cinematography by Tolga, Sound by me and mise-en scene by all of us.
The reason why i chose to work with sound is because i had quite a few ideas as to what sound i could use that would suit our short film perfectly at certain points within the footage. I feel that i can communicate emotion and thought of the main character through the sound. The way in which i'd do this is through the vibe given off from the sound, also the lyrics may also play a part in the short film in indicating the main characters thoughts to the audience.
I can think of two points where i am going to definitely use music and this is going to be at the very beginning when we pan up to the top of the canary wharf and i feel that there should be some sound here to indicate celebration but the music should have a business vibe to it so that it communicates to the audience that it is a professional celebration, perhaps to do with money.
Another moment where i may want to use sound in the short film is when his business is broke, he has been kicked out by his wife and is laying on the streets of London, here is where i would use the sound to communicate the depression he is going through and perhaps to connote the atmosphere of the scene. When he is walking to what the audience think is his death the music will play here throughout the journey to the rooftop, as the audience will think and feel like the main character has lost all hope in the world and is about to commit suicide. The song i may want to use here is the song 'Mad World' by Gary Jules, i think this would be a suitable song for this moment within the scene as it has strong lyrics of depression and indicates to the audience just how the main character is feeling, it also adds a sad vibe to the scenes that the song is playing in.
